Hello, I am Jonathan Smith. I am an accredited Strategic Psychotherapist, accredited Clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner.

What is Strategic Psychotherapy?
Strategic Psychotherapy is a term used to describe a kind of therapy where the therapist is responsible for considering decisions about how to help the client get to where they want to go. In effect, the therapist acts as a navigator. However, the client is still very much the captain of the ship. Strategic therapy seeks not to dwell endlessly on an unchangeable past but instead identify the limiting behaviours a client is running due to their life experiences and help them replace those patterns with more effective ones.
What is hypnotherapy, and how does it help with weight loss?
Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that uses hypnosis, a trance-like state, to help individuals access their subconscious mind and make positive changes in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Hypnotherapy can be used to treat various conditions, including anxiety, depression, and phobias, as well as being proven to aid in weight loss.

In the context of weight loss, hypnotherapy works by helping you address the underlying psychological factors contributing to your overeating or lack of motivation to exercise. For example, it may help you identify and address emotional eating patterns, increase your self-esteem and confidence, and change negative thought patterns that may sabotage your weight loss efforts.

You are always in control and aware of what is happening, and I simply serve as a guide to help facilitate the process. Working with a qualified and experienced hypnotherapist and having realistic expectations about the potential outcomes is important.

How many sessions of hypnotherapy are needed for Weight Loss?
The number of sessions required to support Weight Loss with hypnotherapy can vary depending on the individual and the severity of the issue. Some people progress significantly after just one session, while others may require multiple sessions. On average, 3-5 sessions are usually recommended.
Is hypnotherapy for weight loss safe?
Hypnotherapy is considered safe when performed by a qualified and experienced hypnotherapist. However, as with any therapeutic intervention, discussing concerns with your therapist is always a good idea and ensures you feel comfortable and relaxed during the session.
Is hypnotherapy for weight loss effective?
There is evidence that hypnotherapy is effective in aiding weight loss by helping you make positive changes in your eating habits and relationship with food. Whilst developing improved coping strategies in all areas of your life.
How long does a session take?
An initial session may take up to 90 minutes, and the following sessions take 60 minutes. This would include an initial strategic interview, a clinical hypnotherapy session, and then a post-session interview that will also include assigning tasking to the client.
Is online therapy as effective as in-clinic sessions?
Experience has shown that online therapy (via Zoom) works extremely well, comparable with in-person sessions.

All you need is an internet connection, headphones, a comfortable seated position, and privacy.

No traffic or parking issues, no rushing around, and evening sessions as late as 9 pm, or even on weekends, so you don’t need to deal with asking for time away from work.

Will my insurance cover treatment?
Some funds do, and others do not. It also depends on your level of coverage. It’s best to check your schedule to see if your insurer provides any rebates.
Will I receive a recording of my session?
Yes, all sessions are recorded, and a copy is provided. I suggest you listen to it daily between sessions. You will also receive lite tasking assignments to reinforce the improvements that you can do between sessions.
